1. Introduction
Ehtares (“we”, “our”) is a mobile security application that helps identify scam and phishing messages. This policy describes what information the app and the ehtares.com website process, how it is used, and the choices you have.
The short version: Ehtares is built to analyze suspicious content for protection, not to profile you. Analysis runs on your device by default, network features are opt-in, and message content is not stored on our servers.
2. Information We Process
On the website: standard, minimal technical logs generated by hosting (such as IP address and requested URL) [PLACEHOLDER: exact log fields and retention to be confirmed with the hosting provider before launch].
In the app: message content is processed to compute a verdict, as described in section 3. No account, login, or profile is required to use Ehtares.
3. Message and Text Content
On-device analysis: pasted or forwarded messages are analyzed on your device by default.
Message Filter (iPhone): when you enable it, iOS provides messages from senders not in your contacts to the Ehtares filter. Classification happens locally; for some messages the filter may defer a query to our backend (a sender/text hash request over HTTPS) to receive a folder action (junk, promotion, transaction, or allow). The message content in that query is used to compute the verdict and is then discarded. It is not stored server-side.
Explicit reporting: when you choose to report a message, anonymized scam signals (such as the sender identifier and any domains) are shared so others can be protected. Reports are per-message, opt-in, and never carry your identity.
4. How We Use Information
To provide the protection feature: computing verdicts, sorting unknown-sender messages, and explaining why a message was flagged.
To improve detection: opt-in reports and aggregated scam signals feed the threat-intelligence network that sharpens detection for everyone.
To keep the service running and secure: operating the backend, preventing abuse, and diagnosing faults.
We do not use message content for advertising, profiling, or resale.
5. Data Retention
Verdict requests are processed in memory and discarded. Community report signals are retained while they remain useful for detection, under a rolling window [PLACEHOLDER: final retention windows are being finalized; see the team's retention policy before launch].
You can request deletion of data associated with your reports by contacting privacy@ehtares.com.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share message content with third parties for their own purposes.
Anonymized, aggregated scam signals may be used to operate the community threat-intelligence network that the protection feature depends on.
7. Third-Party Services
The backend runs on managed infrastructure [PLACEHOLDER: final infrastructure and subprocessor list to be confirmed and published before launch]. The website loads fonts and assets from our own domain.
If analytics or crash-reporting tools are ever added, this policy will say so plainly before they ship.
8. Security
Network communication uses HTTPS. Backend access is restricted, and the service is designed to collect as little as possible. The cheapest data to protect is the data never collected.
9. Children's Privacy
Ehtares is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law), you may have rights such as access, correction, and deletion of your personal data. Because Ehtares works without accounts and stores minimal data, most requests concern report signals. Contact privacy@ehtares.com and we will handle them.
11. International Data Transfers
The service may involve processing outside your country [PLACEHOLDER: hosting region decision pending; to be confirmed before launch].
12. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, surface the change in the app.
